Mindfulness has started to become a bit of a buzzword in the education space. Today we talk with a district mindfulness specialist, a psychologist, and a classroom teacher to explore what mindfulness is, what it isn’t, why it’s worth doing, and how to get started in your own life and in your classroom.
In this episode:
- I speak with mindfulness specialist James Butler to discuss best practices surrounding how to get started with mindfulness in the classroom.
- I interview psychologist Dr. Tori Olds about the deeper happenings in the mind when mindfulness is being practiced.
- I chat with educator Jaclyn Mann about her experience in leading mindfulness activities in her classroom.
- You’ll hear a couple in-class sessions of both Jaclyn Mann and myself leading mindfulness practices in our classes
Resources James Butler spoke about:

I use calm app as well as smiling mind app and web site in my classroom. MindfulSchools has online courses for educators which are affordable and include curriculum.
I haven’t used Calm but have played with Headspace. Thanks for sharing what you’re doing! Happy mindfulness 🙂
And thanks to your blog I got an educator subscription to Breathe app.
Awesome! Yeah I thought it was crazy that there were so many premium resources being offered to teachers for free 🙂
