No Classes & NOTHING BUT ESPORTS For A Week

The school I teach at does something called Project Week where students don't have any classes and they have all week to explore something they're interested or passionate about. I worked with a group of students who were interested in doing something with esports. Part of their project was to put on a Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament. Super big thanks to Game Over Videogames for letting us host the tournament for free at their location! Entry 26 – Project Week 2017

Entry 26 – Project Week 2017

A few weeks ago, we did Project Week.  I've written about this in the past and I made a video for this year's projects. Each year at Headwaters School, students get a chance to take a week off of regular classes to explore an interest of their choice. Here's what students explored in 2017. Week 27 – Project Week Presentations & 3 Act Math

Week 27 – Project Week Presentations & 3 Act Math

The highlight of the week was the Project Week presentation fair.  I wrote about project week in some of my previous posts, and here is a video from last year's Project Week.  The work the students did was impressive to say the least.  I scurried around this year as well getting as much footage as I could.  It's hard because there were 10 presentations going on at a time and the presentations were only 10 minutes long.  I tried to get footage of at least two presentations every 10 minutes.  The video was a ton of fun to put together,…

Project Week Day 2 : Q&A With My Middle School Students

Every year my school gives students a week to do a project on whatever they want.  Literally anything.  They take a week off of classes the week before spring break (which is this week) and have at it.  See a short video I made about last years Project Week HERE. This year, I'm doing my own Project Week that's all related to filmmaking. Check out my reflection on Day 1 to see a 2-second video animation intro I made.  Yesterday, I continued work on my bigger video project that is all about my story as a filmmaker.  I wrote out the…

Project Week – Day 1 : Creating A Video Intro Animation

Every year my school gives students a week to do a project on whatever they want.  Literally anything.  They take a week off of classes the week before spring break and have at it.  See a short video I made about last years Project Week HERE. This year, I'm working with students who are making films for their Project Week.  Some are documentaries while some are short narrative films.  It really entails me helping them out if they're unsure of how to edit something or want to bounce ideas off of me.  I decided I would do my own Project…
